Chances are, you’ve typed an alternative character before, but you probably did it by accident or don't know how it happened. Here’s how to easily access alternative characters.
Read moreI use a hardware keyboard with my iPad to write. As much as I try, it's hard to adapt to using the iPad's software keyboard to get any serious writing done. That said, there are a lot of iPad keyboards out there, but they can easily be sorted in to three types. Here's a look in to the various iPad keyboards and how they'll work best (and worst) for you.
Read moreJoystiq has the scoop on gameplay footage for the upcoming Infinity Blade Dungeons, the third in the line of Infinity Blade games that have been exclusive to iOS and showcases of the graphical prowess of the iPhone and iPad.
Unlike the first two games, Dungeons' gameplay is entirely different. It's now a Diablo-style dungeon crawler. Perfect timing given Diablo 3's launch. I love these games and can't wait for Dungeons to release, especially after the disaster that was Dungeon Hunter 3. [Joystiq]

I still prefer that publishers design magazines to render images and text natively and not use InDesign to create a giant PDF, but for now, all the publishers love this crap and don’t seem to want to change. Hey, at least I can read the same huge PDFs on my iPhone soon. [Gizmodo] Read more
Instapaper remains the best way to read the web and despite the developer having a baby recently, has managed to update his app with some new features.

It was only a matter of time before I fired up the Les Paul and started playing through my iPad and iPhone. I have some really nice Marshall amps, but the future is within those devices. Apogee makes a gateway device that allows you to connect your guitar (bass guitars too!) to any iOS device or your computer to play and record and it’s fully Garageband compatible. Here’s a gallery of Apogee’s Jam. Read more
